Second Spark
Workforce Initiative
DCA’s Second Spark Workforce Initiative helps veterans and returning parents prepare for rewarding careers in jewelry retail sales through accessible training, mentorship, and career support. At the same time, it helps the industry address a growing need for skilled new talent.

The jewelry industry is facing an important workforce challenge. As experienced professionals retire and competition for retail talent increases, businesses need new ways to attract, prepare, and support the next generation of sales professionals.

The Second Spark Workforce Initiative was created to meet that need.

This program opens doors for veterans and returning parents by providing a clear pathway into jewelry retail. Participants build knowledge, strengthen workplace skills, and connect with real career opportunities in the industry.

Now accepting Second Spark participant applications
Eligible students can apply to receive a DCA Second Spark Grant to cover the cost of the program tuition. To be eligible to receive the grant, applicants must be 18 years or older, be a U.S. resident and either a U.S. military veteran or parent returning to the workforce after a 2+ year caregiving gap.
Why Second Spark Matters
Veterans and returning parents bring valuable transferable skills that translate naturally into success in jewelry retail environments.

Second Spark is designed to help these individuals apply those strengths in a new setting, supporting a confident transition into the industry while contributing to a stronger and more capable retail sales workforce.
“We’re proud to launch Second Spark as a unique solution to two important needs—creating career opportunities for veterans and returning parents, and strengthening the future workforce of our industry. It’s a program built on both purpose and practicality.”
